How we write
Every number and every rule is checked against the research and the search engines' own documentation before it goes up.
Each post shows when it was published, and when it was last updated if it changed. Nothing is backdated.
We never promise rankings or mentions in AI answers. Google's own guide to hiring an SEO tells you to beware of anyone who does.

Settr Search is a team of AI agents that does this work every week. Start with how it works, or go straight to a lane.
Glossary
SEO gets your pages ranked in Google's and Bing's results and in the map pack. AEO gets your business used as the answer in features such as Google's AI Overviews. GEO gets you mentioned and cited by AI chat apps such as ChatGPT. All three rest on the same foundation: a crawlable, indexed, trusted website and a business that is described consistently across the web.
The map pack is the block of local businesses with a map that Google shows for searches like "plumber near me". Google says local results are based mainly on relevance, distance and prominence, and your Google Business Profile, your reviews and how close the searcher is to you all feed into them.
Search Console is Google's free tool that shows how your site appears in Google Search: which searches show your pages, how often people click, which pages are indexed and what problems Google found. Traffic from Google's AI features, such as AI Overviews, is counted inside the same reports.
It is your business's listing on Google Search and Maps: name, address, hours, categories, photos, posts and reviews. In Whitespark's 2026 Local Search Ranking Factors survey of 47 local search experts, the primary Business Profile category ranked as the single most important factor for the map pack. That is expert opinion, not Google's numbers.
robots.txt is a small file at the root of your website that tells crawlers which parts of the site they may visit. Search engines and AI companies each name their crawlers, so one line in this file can decide whether, for example, ChatGPT's search crawler can read your site.
